What is True?
In our world it can be very hard to separate truth from lies. Many beliefs that have existed from thousands of years are being challenged or ridiculed. Science is changing its mind constantly; proving and then disproving supposed facts. What do we believe and who do we trust?
In times of confusion God is our main supplier of truth. He will help guide us through feelings and thoughts as to truth and light. We do our part by praying and being open to what God tells us whether it is what we want to hear or not. When confusion runs the world, it can be nice to focus on lasting eternal truth that stays the same through the eons of time. … Heavenly Father is our Father and we are His spirit children. Heavenly Father sent His son Jesus Christ to help us return to Him. We all have tests and challenges to overcome in this life. We all have specific missions to live on earth. |
Getting married and having children in a loving environment are the main ways we can learn what is needed from life: unconditional love, support, kindness, service, patience, knowledge, compassion, team-work, and much more.
In 1995 the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a document defining truth relating to our family life. The Family: A Proclamation to the World

In the talk, “What is Truth” by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (CES Devotionals, January 2013) he tells a story about the blind men and the elephant. Each man could feel only a part of the elephant and would therefore each describe what an elephant was from an entirely different perspective. His point was that we all need to be careful that we are seeing truth rather than only a version of truth, so we are not deceived or misjudge the situation. President Uchtdorf warns us about Satan using our good traits against us such as “tolerance”. To put it simply we should tolerate differences in beliefs, culture, clothing, and ideas. We should not tolerate violence, abuse, and lies. President Uchtdorf warns that with good people Satan will promote self-doubt. He will get you to doubt prayer, scriptures, and your personal feelings from God. Satan will use other people to make you question beliefs and wants. President Uchtdorf advises we stay close to the Holy Ghost because then we can be strengthen and have truth be more clear in our minds.

In the talk “No Other God’s” (2013) Dallin H. Oaks teaches about families existing since before the world began with our heavenly family. He calls on us to make sure we put our families as priorities in our life since the relationships can last beyond this life. |
Elder Holland recounts the vision Moses had of God and the earth. He says the lesson is that we cannot “let our guard down.” We should expect that after guidance by God, Satan will bring thing or someone bad into our lives to deceive us and stop us from going down the right path. We have to pray to God to help us stay on the right course for us. God will always help us if we ask in faith. Elder Holland says, “Fear not, the Lord shall fight for you.”
Joseph Smith sees Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ who have immortal bodies and are two separate individuals who work as one for the same purpose... helping us learn and grow then bringing us home.
